What You Need To Know

Why Choose Asset-Backed Loans?

Asset-backed loans offer a distinct advantage over traditional lending methods for individuals and businesses needing rapid access to funds. One of the primary reasons to choose this option is the speed and simplicity of the process. Since the loan is secured by the value of your asset rather than solely on your credit score, the approval process is typically much faster and requires less extensive paperwork than unsecured loans or mortgages. This makes them an ideal solution for urgent financial needs or capitalizing on time-sensitive opportunities.

Benefits of Using Assets as Security

  • It allows you to access significant capital without having to sell your valuable possessions, preserving ownership of items that may have sentimental or appreciating value.
  • The loan approval process is often more accessible to individuals who might not qualify for traditional loans due to credit history.
  • Asset-backed loans typically offer competitive interest rates compared to unsecured lending options, as the risk to the lender is reduced by holding collateral.

Documents Required

To facilitate a smooth and efficient loan process against your assets, you will typically need to provide a few key documents.

  • ID for identity verification
  • Proof of Residence to confirm address
  • Proof of Income to demonstrate your ability to repay the loan
  • Proof of Ownership of Assets

Where vehicles are provided as security, the registration documents are necessary & transfer of ownership papers signed by you will be held (the actual transfer would only occur in the event of a default). If Insurance Policies are used as security, they will need to be ceded to the lender.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of assets can I use as security for a loan?

We accept a range of high-value assets including cars, fine art, jewellery, luxury watches, antiques, collectibles, and other approved movable assets of significant value. The key is that the asset can be independently valued and provides sufficient security for the loan amount.

How is the value of my asset determined?

The value of your asset is determined through a professional valuation process. This may involve expert appraisers with specialized knowledge of the specific asset class (e.g., car experts, gemologists, art appraisers) to ensure an accurate market value assessment.

How much can I borrow against my asset?

The loan amount is typically a percentage of the appraised market value of your asset. This percentage varies depending on the type of asset and the lender’s policies, but it is usually a significant portion of the asset’s value. The maximum loan amount is R20 million.

How quickly can I get the funds?

One of the advantages of asset-backed loans is speed. Once your asset has been valued and the necessary documentation is in order, funds can often be disbursed within a very short timeframe, typically a few days.

What are the interest rates and repayment terms?

Interest rates for asset-backed loans are generally competitive as the loan is secured. The specific rate will depend on the loan amount, the asset type, and the loan term. Repayment terms are flexible and will be agreed upon during the loan application process but the general loan period is 3 to 6 months.

Is my asset safe while it is used as security?

Yes, the security and safety of your asset are paramount. While your asset is held as security, it is typically stored in highly secure facilities and is often insured for its full market value.

What happens if I can't reply the loan?

In the event of a default on the loan agreement, and only then, the lender has the right to take ownership of the asset that was provided as security. The process for this is clearly outlined in the loan agreement signed by both parties.
